In my previous article I shared some of my favorite water design elements. If you noticed, all of them were united by vivid naturalism – when water, greenery and aquatic creatures provide various “nature like” objects.
But of course water is not only about nature. It can be a symbol of energy, changes, movement, and transparency and even of an elusive moment. It can energise and refresh you.
Or, it can be totally opposite and represent calmness, deepness and mystery. Being so, it can sooth and relax you.
Have a look at following stunning examples of the water interior elements in classic and modern design to see what can fit your interior and mood the best.
Do you know that originally fountains were made to supply people with drinking water and water for bathing and washing? Why not to install one at your home, and give it not only decorative but also some functional meaning? ;)

Functional or not, there are 3 interior fountain types according to the installation method:
Table fountains (usually small in size, freestanding, easy to maintain);

Floor fountains (medium to big size, usually fixed to the certain place, maintainance depends on the fountain complexity);

Wall fountains – as they look more like waterfall in various improvisations I’m writing about them separately as about “water walls” (see next chapter).
Keep in mind that most fountains are combination of electricity (power source) and open water misting around. So, you will have to remember about both of them while installing and maintaining your splashing creature.
Install it closclosee enough to the power source but try to hide cables – for the sake of the safety and aesthetic look;
Check if your floor (table, wall) surface is sturdy enough against water damage as well as accidental scrapes;
Choose “curtain” fountain (which don’t splash) over “spray jet” one (better for outdoor) if you are not sure how your interior’s walls, ceiling and floor (not mentioning furniture) will react on extra evaporation, from the fine mist of the arching water;
Once added water usually circulates in fountain for long period of time. If you are afraid that fountain pump can be damaged by hard water- use distilled one.
If your fountain has a pond-like base, same safety rules as I already mentioned here are applied
2. Interior Water wall can be adjusted to the room wall or be freestanding. In adjusted water wall you can choose between wall washing installation or “projecting” water blade installation (see the pics below). Freestanding water walls usually have wall washing effect.

Personally, I particularly like freestanding semi-transparent water walls as they not only can add a zest to the any interior but also work as partitioning walls to separate different areas in a room without “overcrowding” effect due to their transparency.

Another interesting idea is combination of the water wall with a huge French window.

3. In case if you are in love with computerization - Digital Water curtain in your living room can make your day.;)
Actually, nowadays these wonders are mostly used in promotional areas: to attract attention of the potential customers or clients to the product; highlight an event, company logo or brand name.
Most of them are simple in use, installation and maintenance start at a low price (depends on manufacture). I guess, it is only lack of awareness on part of homeowners and designers that prevents them from using digital water curtain in private interior designs.

Imagine millions of rising bubbles which create a fascinating picture of a continuous vertical movement or turbulent rotation.
As such wall can come in any shape, size and color, plus with customized lightning effects - you can perfectly fit it into design of any room. All you need is convenient electrical connection and endless visual pleasure is guaranteed.
